concept generation
Brainstorming. Sketching. 2D and 3D CAD layouts. System architecture. Exploring as widely as possible, coming up with many, many ideas, is the best way to come up with great concepts. ANGLE can provide concepts independently or in direct collaboration with clients.
part design
Detailed engineering of part designs for their functionality, usability, aesthetics, manufacturing (DFM), and assembly (DFA) is ANGLE’s specialty. Particular expertise includes injection molding, sheet metal, machining, extrusion, thermo-forming, and additive manufacturing.
CAD modeling
Translating product concepts, industrial design forms, and mechanism designs accurately into 3D CAD databases for use in manufacturing is critical to the success of a project. ANGLE has deep modeling expertise using Solidworks, including complex surfacing and assembly.
prototyping
Prototypes (ranging from quick-and-rough early models through refined final versions) can confirm the feasibility of a concept or fail in ways that teach what can be made better. ANGLE can build or coordinate prototype fabrication.
testing
Prototypes are built to test, from simple proof-of-concept tests to full V&V testing for medical devices. Prototypes and appearance models are also used in evaluative user research. ANGLE can facilitate and support these tests.
documentation
Creating 2D documentation packages is still necessary for manufacturing, especially overseas. ANGLE creates BOMs and part & assembly drawings outlining critical dimensions and tolerances, and part specification notes.
manufacturing support
Transitioning a design to manufacturing is complicated. ANGLE can perform manufacturing and tooling reviews, first article inspections, and work closely with suppliers to ensure smooth ramp up into volume manufacturing.
manufacturing sourcing
ANGLE has working relationships with vendors, suppliers and contract manufacturers in the United States and in China, as well as partnerships with sourcing experts, to help clients identify appropriate partners for parts/assembly.
project management
Depending on the type of engagement, ANGLE can take on significant project management responsibilities or collaborate with the client project management team. [Engagements might be as small as a single design review, ranging up to a full program.]
